Randa Kamel biography

She was born in 1976 in Mansoura, Egypt.  

When was a child she use to dance at parties and weddings neighbors and friends as well as school festivals of this city, traditionalist brought her many problems with her family because they disapproved her taste for dance. 

 However, she says: "I loved when people came and begged me to dance. It made me feel loved and appreciated; perhaps that is the reason why I am so passionate dance."

 At age 15 she went to study with the famous Egyptian Reda Folklore group, of which she studied and performed with them for 7 years. However, she never took classes of oriental dance, but developedher own style.

Although a psychologist by profession (discipline that says it helps her as a dancer), Randa began her career as a professional dancer bellydance at age 21 in Alexandria, where she lived for two years.Later, she moved to Cairo and worked in restaurants and cabarets for four months until she went to work at the Hotel Meridien in Cairo, where he shared the stage for a week with the famous dancer Fifi Abdou. Randa danced as a soloist in the hotel the night show for two years and then began working in the luxury cruise Nile Maxim Hotel Marriot, sailing the Nile River in Cairo.
   
Most of foreigner groups of tourists are taken to the Nile Maxim dinner boat, and this is how she ended up been known internationally when not many Egyptians know about her nowadays, as she is just performing for high class families or for foreigners, and not appearing either on Egyptian TV or movies.

She has been teacher at the Ahlam Wa Sahlan International Festival in Cairo, and after 20 years on stage daily performing with her 20 musicians orchestra (less at the Nile Maxim because the small stage), she teaches worldwide in most of the internationally festivals, and also has her own Festival back in Cario: "Raqs, of course!".
